How to Create a UPI QR Code for Your Business
A UPI QR code lets a customer open a UPI payment screen by scanning a code. For shops, freelancers and service businesses, it can be used at the counter, on invoices, in WhatsApp messages or on printed material. LinkMitra generates the QR code; your bank or UPI app handles the actual payment.
Payment handling: LinkMitra does not process UPI payments or confirm settlement. Always confirm payment in your bank account or UPI app before marking an invoice as paid.
Steps to create a UPI QR code
Enter the UPI ID exactly as given by your bank or payment app.
Add the payee or business name customers should see.
Add a fixed amount only if the QR is for a specific bill or invoice.
Generate and download the QR code.
Scan it with at least one UPI app to check the payee name and amount.
Print or share it only after testing.
Create a free UPI QR: Use LinkMitra's UPI QR Generator to create a downloadable payment QR with UPI ID, payee name and optional amount.
Where to use a business UPI QR
Billing counter or shop display
Invoice PDFs for easy customer payment
WhatsApp payment requests
Event stalls and temporary counters
Service visits where customers pay after work is complete
Mistakes to avoid
Typing the wrong UPI ID
Printing before testing
Using a fixed amount QR for variable bills
Assuming a scan means payment is complete
Not recording received payments against invoices
Fixed amount vs open amount QR
Use a fixed amount QR when the amount should not change, such as a specific invoice balance of Rs. 3,500. Use an open amount QR when customers pay different amounts, such as at a shop counter or for variable service charges. For invoices, fixed amount can reduce mistakes, but it should be regenerated if the amount changes after discount, partial payment or correction.
Customer-facing labels

Pay invoice INV-2026-018

Scan and confirm after payment
Check payee name before paying
A label is useful because a QR image alone does not tell the customer what it does. Put the business name near the QR and test the printed size from the distance where customers will scan it.
How UPI QR supports registration
A business can create a quick UPI QR without logging in, but repeat use becomes easier with saved workflows. After creating invoices and collecting payments, a free LinkMitra account helps connect customers, invoice records, pending payments and expenses instead of leaving everything scattered across screenshots and chats.
For regular customers, save the invoice and payment record together. That way, if the customer later asks for payment proof or balance details, you do not need to search across UPI history, WhatsApp and PDF files separately.
Can I create a UPI QR without an amount?
Yes. Use a blank amount when customers need to enter different bill values.
Can I add a UPI QR to an invoice?
Yes. Add payment details or share the QR along with the invoice so the customer has a clear way to pay.
